Nicola Dawson blogs about Box Bell Fit Training....
I've never really enjoyed gym classes - I generally left them feeling a bit rubbish, not as fit as most of the people there and like I didn't really have a clue what I was doing. But then last year some friends bought me a 10 class pass to Box Bell Fit near Wokingham and I've not looked back. I absolutely love it, and that is definitely NOT something I ever thought I would say about a gym!
They do have open gym and personal training, but most of the focus is on classes - kettlebells, turbobox, circuits, strength & conditioning, metafit, pilates, HIIT, military marches, boxercise - they even have kids classes that my daughters go to and love! Pretty much all the classes are ones that you can do at the level that is right for you regardless of the others in the class, although I've not been brave enough to try metafit yet!
And it is so welcoming and friendly - the members are lovely and the staff are so encouraging and motivating, and genuinely care about helping people to meet their goals. And it won't break the bank - annual memberships are available, but you can also buy 1, 5, 10 or 20 sessions at a time, with the 20 session one working out to just £5 a visit. Have a look at the timetable on the website, and come give it a try - if I can discover a love of circuits, lifting and punching then I'm pretty sure anyone can! http://www.boxbellfit.co.uk/
Nicola also recently featured on the Meridien news in a report explaining the benefits of being active outdoors. You can watch that report here.
Louise Remenyi from Reading describes Sunday night netball at Meadway......
Meadway gym hosts a training and game play netball session on a Sunday night. There are many reasons why I love this session which ever way you look at it you're either starting your week with a run around or getting a work out in just before the week is over! The group is friendly a mix of new and more experienced players which leads to a great learning environment. Su Oliver runs the sessions and makes you work hard whilst having fun!
And 'Fit to Run' which is led by one of our This Girl Can Ambassadors, Vikki Roberts.....
Vikki Roberts, Bracknell based PT runs Fit to Run in the toolstation car park in Bracknell. Despite the odd location this is a great running fitness class. Vikki and the group are hugely welcoming and supportive. Whatever your experience and pace you will be able to fit into the group. Its fantastic for building running related fitness even if it does leave you sore for a few days!
You can find details about Vikkis 'Fit to Run' sessions on our Activity Finder here.
