The Berkshire Inspire Academy is our linked leadership programme that supports the delivery of our philosophy of an event for young people run by young people. The Berkshire Inspire Academy is a partnership programme between the Leadership and Coaching School (Theale Green), the Lead Inclusion School (Wexham) and Get Berkshire Active.

In 2012, Theale Green School in partnership with West Berkshire School Sport Network took on the Youth Sport Trust Lead in Leadership, Coaching & Volunteering (LCV) School role for Berkshire.

What is an LCV Lead School?

Leadership, Coaching and Volunteering (LCV) Lead Schools are members of a national network that use innovative approaches to drive individual and whole school improvement through leadership, coaching and volunteering.

Each Lead School is representative of its county and takes a partnership approach to delivery with local schools and organisations to develop inclusive pathways for young people to progress as leaders, coaches, officials and volunteers.

All LCV schools are provided with national networking and exclusive development opportunities to drive leadership and coaching forward across the country and to meet the needs of the young people locally.

We work in close partnership with the 7 other SGOs areas across the county as well as Get Berkshire Active and our Berkshire Local Organising Committee to plan and develop opportunities for all across the county.

For any other information on the LCV role please contact Maxine Smiles Cooke, West Berkshire School Sport Manager & Berkshire Inspire Academy Manager at Theale Green School via email: mcooke@thealegreen.w-berks.sch.uk

Primary Leadership

We believe that all young people are capable of delivering physical activity opportunities in schools. This not only provides more options for more pupils it enables these pupils to obtain key life skills (communication, teamwork, self-management and problem solving) and experiences that will help them grow in confidence and support academic achievement.

This resource can be used independent of or alongside an existing school leadership programme. Once a pupil has completed all aspects of this resource, they will receive a Berkshire Inspire Academy Primary Leadership Participation Certificate and schools can apply for a Berkshire Inspire Academy pin badge.

We hope this will be the start of their journey to becoming an excellent sports/activity leader/coach for many years.

We encourage all leaders to adopt and demonstrate the School Games values as well as encouraging their peers to live healthy lives through positive experiences and be Active for 60 minutes every day. The six School Games values were developed by young people to recognise how the experience of sport should be epitomised and embodied within schools, and to reflect the 'spirit' of the School Games.
