About RG Blue Sox Softball Club
Softball is bit like Rounders but more like Baseball in terms of the rules. We play Slowpitch Softball, as the name implies ball is pitched slowly and underarm to the batter, which makes it easier to hit. Softball is a very social game and this gives you a chance to make a heap of new friends.
We're always looking for new members, so whether you've never heard of softball or you've been playing for years, we would love for you to join us. If you are new to the sport we have experienced coaches/players there to help you. If you would like to get involved or need more information please email us and we will be happy to provide you with more information and answer any questions you may have.
We train and play our home games at Sol Joel Park in Earley/Reading, which is behind the Coop by Three Tuns pub/junction on Wokingham road. If you are driving best post code to use is RG6 1EY and park entrance is off Church Road just before Earley St. Peter's Church, https://goo.gl/SvLHE2.
Our regular season training is on Wednesdays at 6.30pm to 8-8:30,and later in the season until Sun give us light. First session would be on Wednesday 25th April, and every week after that until our season is completed; probably the end of September. Training session consist of warmup, bit of cardio, softball drills focusing on catching, throwing, batting and game play situations, and ends with a friendly game. After training we go across the road to a pub close by.
We have two teams that play in WMSL, with division 1 playing on Tuesdays and division 2 playing on Thursdays. Division 1 starts on 8th May and division 2 starts on 10th May, and we play through the summer to early September.
