Job Title: Community Cricket Coach

Contract: Full Time

Salary: £18,000

Benefits: Life Cover, & Company Pension

Hours per week: Full time – 35 hours per week

Responsible to: Schools Manager

Location: New Road, but throughout Worcestershire as required by the Schools Manager

Job Context:

Worcestershire Cricket are looking for a highly motivated and competent, schools and community cricket coach to deliver high quality coaching sessions to inspire children of all ages and abilities in Primary Schools, Secondary Schools, Community Settings, Cricket Clubs and at Worcestershire Cricket Holiday Camps.

Summary of Job Purpose:

The Community Cricket Coach role will be responsible for delivery of high quality, fun and engaging cricket sessions in Schools, Clubs, and Community projects throughout the year, creating outstanding experiences for all participants at every session.

Role Description & Person Specification

Objectives:

  • Deliver high quality, fun and engaging cricket/multi skills sessions across a range of settings (Schools, Wicketz, Community, Clubs and Camps).
  • Deliver these sessions to a range of participants (young people, disability groups, hard to reach groups).
  • Deliver schools competitions (Primary and Secondary).
  • Deliver Primary Schools assemblies.
  • Actively support the transition of young people from school to community sport by facilitating school-club links.
  • Undertake development project work e.g. Festivals, Competitions.
  • Promote and influence Chance to Shine portal & school resources sign up.
  • Teacher CPD delivery.
  • Promote all Worcestershire Cricket activities and offers.
  • Ensure accurate records are kept and logged in accordance with funding partners' requirements.
  • Administrate, monitor, evaluate and report on sessions delivered via Chance to Shine Portal and the Upshot data system.
  • Capture visual evidence (photos/film) of sessions in adherence with safeguarding and media consent requirements for promotional and monitoring/evaluation purposes.
  • Identify and record individual or group case studies for promotional and monitoring/evaluation purposes.

PERSON SPECIFICATION

Knowledge:

  • Understanding the process of delivering high quality, fun and engaging coaching sessions.
  • Understanding Sports Development principles.
  • Understanding the needs and barriers associated with young people, disability, areas of deprivation.
  • Understanding of current programmes undertaken by Worcestershire Cricket – Chance to Shine, Wicketz, Holiday Camps.
  • Understanding ECB National Programmes – All Stars and Dynamos Cricket.
  • The cricket landscape and support networks – ECB, County Board and local.
  • Safeguarding within the coaching environment.
  • Understanding behaviour management techniques.
  • Understanding the exit routes for all participants through Club and Community.
  • Coach Development and mentoring.

Experience:

Essential

  • Significant experience of working with young people in a coaching role at a recreational level.
  • Experience of both soft and hardball cricket coaching.
  • Experience of planning, delivering and reviewing coaching sessions.
  • Experience of behaviour management.
  • Experience of partnership working.
  • Use of IT and Microsoft office.

Desirable

  • Experience of working with hard to reach groups or communities.
  • Experience of working in a disability setting.
  • Experience of working in a school setting.
  • Experience of presenting to groups.
  • Experience of working within or in partnership with a County Cricket Board.
  • Experience of ECB National Programmes, specifically All Stars and Dynamos Cricket.

Qualifications:

The Job Holder will ideally have:

  • Eligibility to work in the UK.
  • ECB Level 2/UKCC2/Core coach qualified.
  • First aid certificate.
  • Safeguarding Young Cricketers.
  • A full clean current driving licence, and access to own transport.
  • An up to date ECB DBS check.
