GBA Forum Brings Berkshire Together to Tackle Inclusion
GBA hosted an Inclusion Forum on 23rd June at Reading Football Club - our first face-to-face event since the pandemic! Over 60 delegates attended the Inclusion Forum which provided an opportunity for a range of sectors to come together and share knowledge and expertise related to inclusive sport and physical activity focusing on disabled people and people with long term health conditions as well as providing a face-to-face networking and group discussions across a range of topics.
There were presentations from The Activity Alliance, Richmond Group of Charities, Sport in Mind, Autism Berkshire, GBA and Reading Football Club who all highlighted the power physical activity and simply moving more can play in supporting disabled people and people with long term health conditions live happier fuller lives. Thank you to Andrew Douglass from Parallel who facilitated the event fantastically.
Cathy Carr, Strategic Lead for Living Life Well said: "There was a great buzz all day the Inclusion Forum and it was so inspiring to hear how much great work is going on across Berkshire for disabled people and people living with long-term health conditions. Providing opportunities for partners and experts in the field to come together and share knowledge, experiences, stories, and make new connections is so important and we look forward to supporting more work in this area".
Andrew Douglass from Parallel said: "The main thing I took away from the Inclusion Forum was an incredible spirit of togetherness and a shared passion to make sport and physical exercise accessible for everybody, regardless of age, health or ability. I was also struck by the quality of work already taking place across Berkshire and a collective ambition for the county to be a benchmark for inclusive excellence."
