Reading Rockets Basketball club

During the pandemic Reading Rockets Basketball club stayed in contact with over 600 members on a weekly basis by email, video message, YouTube workout, or (when permitted) in-person basketball activity that fully complied with strict government and Basketball England guidelines.
Virtual activities included challenges, fun family games, adapted sessions for children with SEN, quizzes, and charades. 'Rockets on Rocks' encouraged members decorate rocks with positive messages and display them for local people to enjoy.
"Bounce Back to Basketball" engaged 199 young people. Free sessions were run on outdoor courts across Reading. Links with food banks provided snacks and lunches for young participants. Dee Park in Tilehurst had a weekly 'Basketball and Burrito' session.
Squad players kept in touch via nine WhatsApp groups, fitness challenges, and talks from professional basketball players from across the globe.
