An Overview of Footgolf

The object of the game is to get the ball into the hole using only your feet in the fewest number of shots possible. Footgolf is a very 'addictive' sport - it combines the best of football and golf, two of the most popular sports in the world. The beauty of the game lies in your being able to strategically combine power and precision every time you play footgolf. And, of course, it is open to everyone.

Adaptations and Equipment

Football boots and blades aren't permitted on most UK Footgolf courses - footgolfers are encouraged to wear trainers or astroturfs. Some UK Footgolf courses may permit the use of 'moulds' and AG boots for general play and competitions (please check with course or event organiser prior to the competition to confirm the footwear permitted at the event).

Facts

  • It is believed that the first country to truly play the sport is Spain, however the rules were first created for an event in Netherlands back in 2009.
