mayathon Campaign Materials

It's now more important than ever to be active, stay well and feel connected. At Get Berkshire Active we're going to be supporting mayathon - this is an activity challenge to (virtually) buddy-up with a friend, family or colleague and, starting on 1st May, complete an unbroken streak of 26 minutes of exercise a day for 26 days. Any activity, any intensity, and at home. The number 26 is because it's the number of miles in a marathon - it's our own version of a marathon. This campaign has been adapted to respond to the current COVID-19 crisis.

Key points:

  • Encourage people to stay active at home for wellbeing
  • Buddy-up (virtually) with a friend to motivate and support
  • Any activity counts, any intensity (free online resources)
  • Start slow, build gradually and split daily activity into smaller chunks
  • Build a routine and develop a healthy habit
  • Meet national PA guidelines for adults (at least 150 minutes moderate activity p/w)

We're going to be running a social media campaign through Facebook and Twitter from 28th April to 26th May and promoting the free mayathon app.

Want to join? Download the mayathon Social Media Campaign's content and media files.

This app has been developed so that people can virtually buddy-up with a friend, record their progress (see their buddy's), and track their mood - you can read more at mayathon.com. The app has been adapted to align with the current situation. Using this free app is optional and not essential to be involved challenge.

We'd like as many organisations to be involved in the campaign as possible to support people during this time. All the content produced is free to use including social media posts with images and the mayathon app and can be adapted to your organisation. If you would like to be involved in the campaign or have any other questions, please get in touch with Brett Nicholls brett.nicholls@getberkshireactive.org.
