NEW...Virtual School Games

@BerkshireSGO

#BerkshireVirtualSchoolGames

Due to the current COVID-19 situation all School Games events both at local and county level and all intra school competition have been cancelled.

What are we doing to fill the void?

  • To support schools we are initiating a Berkshire Virtual School Games over the coming weeks.
  • The SGOs and GBA are working in partnership to provide virtual competitions. For Ks1, 2 &3.
  • The events will provide the opportunity for schools to use the scores for their own intra competitions, thus enabling schools to recognise individual and team success.

Concerns?

We recognise that the challenges and the scoring process are open to misinterpretation and cheating. However, we are sure that those who take part will be doing so under the Spirit of the Games and teachers will ensure scores they submit are deemed suitably representative of the activity and pupil. The emphasis is on participation not winning!

How are we doing it?

  • The Berkshire Virtual School Games events will commence w/b 5th May.
  • Each Monday a new event will be launched via your SGO, these maybe for KS2, KS3 or both. We will also have KS1 events when appropriate.
  • To compete in events schools must sign up. Schools only need to sign up once and not for every event.
  • Please read the teacher guidance below for more information.

The Rewards

1. All participants will receive a certificate for every event they take part in.

2. Gold, Silver and Bronze Awards will be awarded for each event at in each age category at county level.

3. Spirit of the Games Awards will be awarded to schools who encourage the largest number of participants.

Once we get enough schools involved we will look to split the reward categories by the school size- small, medium, large.

Your involvement and feedback is Key to its success!

SPECIAL SCHOOLS

Special Schools can enter Primary (Yr 1-6) and Secondary (Yr7-13) teams with no specific gender split.

If there are enough Special Schools entered there will be a separate competition for Special Schools.
